I am 34 years old. I have always considered the physical appearance as essential in our modern world, and it has always been so for me. This is why I have done a lot of sports since my young age, such as fitness, snowboard and martial arts. I also take great care in the quality of the food I eat. However, even though I am in excellent health, I started losing my hair at the age of 20. This was in 1987. I was the only one in the family.

I first started noticing my hair loss when I was 15 years old, but it was very gradual. I was into my 40’s before it was really bad. I was married for 20 years, but eventually found myself divorced. My social life, while bald, was pretty bad. I really disliked hairpieces, so I looked into transplants.

I was diagnosed with a Dermatofibrous sarcoma when I was 26 years old which had been growing on the back of my head since I was born. When the doctor removed the 2-inch tumor so much tissue had to be removed that they needed to use a graft to close the wound. In addition, I had radiation therapy in that area for 6 weeks, killing the hair follicles around the graft. I now have a full head of my own hair. I now have my confidence back!

Dr. Vincent graduated from Oregon Health Sciences University and the University of Alabama with honors obtaining both medical and dental degrees. He then completed an internship year in General Surgery, and finished a full residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Dr. Peter Waite, president of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery in 1999, was Dr. Vincent's surgical residency chairman. During residency Dr. Vincent did surgical rotations with cosmetic dermatologist, Dr. Gary Monheit, and cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Howard Tobin, also past presidents of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery.
